lower fells and lakes. Previous experience - you should be comfortable
walking 5-6 hrs per daywith around 600m(1800ft) of ascent.

CLASSIC MOUNTAIN DAYS
A chance to explore the Lake District fells under our expert
guidance,with a warm and comfortable base. A variety of classic
fell walks will be undertaken from our central base, each course
offering different walks so you may book more than one!
Previous experience - You should be comfortable walking 7-8 hrs
per day with around 1500m (4500ft) of ascent.

INTRODUCTION TO NAVIGATION
Starting from scratch our instructors will give you the basic skills to
explore the mountains with confidence. The course will cover: map symbols, scales, grids, contours, pacing, altimeters and using a
compass as aids to finding your way around mountain terrain.
Previous experience - none required.

IMPROVE YOUR NAVIGATION
For those who wish to develop their navigation skills, this course
will cover all aspects of advanced navigation and will give you the
confidence to find your way in any weather conditions, day or night.
Previous experience - basic navigation skills.

LOCATION
Adventure Peaks is located in Ambleside making it an ideal base for
you to explore and enjoy the Lake District whilst developing
essential skills.
MEETING ARRANGEMENTS
All course dates are inclusive activity days, so you should arrive the evening before. Courses are offered on a non-residential or Bed and Breakfast basis
meeting at 9.15am at our shop in Ambleside. Full instructions on booking.
TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
During the course we normally ask clients to share transport however if you are without we ask that you
contribute to the shared cost.
INSURANCE
Recommended especially for cancellation and personal
belongings.
ALTERNATIVE DATES
All courses can be run on alternative dates for a small supplement.
GETTING STARTED WITH GPS
This course provides a practical introduction to using GPS and
digital maps to aid your navigation and for route planning. GPS can
be provided. Starts 10.00am at Adventure Peaks.
Previous experience - none necessary.
