Pre Expedition Weekend Meets

Our programme of weekend training meets is unique to Adventure Peaks as we invite all clients from all expeditions to each month’s meet, not just one specified weekend for a particular expedition. These weekends provide you with the opportunity to meet us and some of your fellow expedition/course members, as well as others from other expeditions/courses. They will allow you the opportunity to ask questions, gather information, see photos/slides and check your equipment needs, as well as having a good day on the hills.

We hold the weekends in Scotland during January, February and March to allow winter walking and climbing. For the rest of the year they are held in the Lake District. (A full list of dates & venues will be sent on booking).

Whilst the meets are optional we feel you would greatly benefit from attending at least one, but you are welcome to attend as many as you like and you can bring a partner or friend. Come for the weekend and meet us on Saturday morning at 9am or even just on Sunday as day-trippers! Booking is essential.

A full list of dates are sent out with your joining pack

Christmas Ceilidh weekend - no charge. Here's what one of our past clients said:

"What a great weekend.

Well I got back to work today feeling full of zest after a fantastic weekend, so I thought I'd just send a quick e-mail to thank you all.

Stu, Adam and Helen, it was great to meet you all get out on the hills for some light hearted banter and a good walk. Even if the weather was a bit wet !!! The weekend worked for me personally because I arrived with certain bit of information that I hoped to gain and I got the answers to all my questions and more.

All in all a very useful weekend.

Again many thanks and I hope to see you all again next time."

Wilf,

Scottish Weekends: January to March 2011

Based at the Onich Hotel   www.onich-fortwilliam.co.uk

Please book at least one month in advance for the Scottish meets to enable us to secure the accommodation as places are limited and tend to go quickly. Full payment is required at the time of booking (£15 plus accommodation). We would aim to be back at the Hotel by 4pm Sunday to take account of your onward journey.

GETTING TO US
There are often good flight deals into Glasgow Airport with Go-Fly, Ryanair or Easyjet.
See www.skyscanner.net You can then connect by coach with Citylink to a drop off at the hotel; leaves 3pm from Glasgow Airport (approx 2hrs 30min transfer), return leaves Hotel around 11.15 am arriving  at the airport for about 2.00pm,  So - good for Friday to Monday people.

Airport Pick ups - you should be able to arrange a car share or pick up from Glasgow International airport (Prestwick is much more difficult as it is 30 mins off route).  If you wish to take this option flights should be booked arriving at Glasgow around 7.30-8.00pm on Friday and departing after 8.00pm on Sunday. Alternatively you could hire a car from the airport for around £25 per day. Although we cannot guarantee a pick up, it is usually possible. After booking, request an access code to our forum.

Equipment
For the Scottish meets you will require an ice axe, crampons, helmet, harness, goggles and usual winter gear/clothing. All of these can be hired from Adventure Peaks for a small charge.
Equipment must be booked prior to the weekend. A more detailed equipment list can be provided on request.
