Weekend Training Meets – Lake District and/or Scotland
Meets are held in Scotland from January – March and in the Lake District from May – November
Please book in advance
Our pre-expedition training weekends are designed to help you prepare fully for your expedition, allowing members to meet in order to obtain information, share ideas, train, socialise and most of all gel as teams. Whilst the meets are optional we feel you would greatly benefit from attending at least one, but you are welcome to attend as many as you like and you can bring a partner or friend.
Partners, friends & past expedition members:
We are happy for you to bring a friend to the weekend meets but please ensure they are adequately equipped and are sufficiently experienced to participate safely. The cost for clients (excluding accommodation) is £10 per weekend in the Lake District, £15 in Scotland, non-clients £25. Past expedition members can continue to attend the weekend meets provided a booking is made in advance. The final weekend meet of the year takes the form of a Christmas Party, with hill walking before and after. There is no charge for the days on the hill, please ask if you would like information and prices to attend the Party itself.

Getting To Us
There are often good flight deals into Glasgow Airport with Go-Fly, Ryanair or Easyjet. See www.skyscanner.net . You can then connect by coach with City Link to a drop off at the hotel; normally leaves 3pm from Glasgow Airport (approx 2hrs 30min transfer), return leaves Hotel around 11.15 a.m. arriving at the airport for about 2.00pm.
Airport Pick ups - you may be able to arrange a car share or pick up from Glasgow International airport (Prestwick is much more difficult as it is 30 mins off route). If you wish to take this option flights should be booked arriving at Glasgow around 7.30-8.00 p.m. on Friday and departing after 8.00 p.m. on Sunday. Alternatively you could hire a car from the airport for around £25 per day. Please note we cannot guarantee a pick up although it is often possible.
Equipment
The Scottish meets give you a chance to do some winter walking in the mountains. You will require an ice axe, crampons, goggles and usual winter gear/clothing. All of these can be hired from Adventure Peaks for a small charge, (crampons -£3 per course, ice axe- £3 per course). More experienced clients who feel they may want to pair up and do some climbing over the weekend if the opportunity arises, would need to bring appropriate equipment and could also hire a harness and helmet from Adventure Peaks if arranged in advance.
Equipment must be booked prior to the weekend. A more detailed equipment list can be provided on request.
