Everest - North Ridge Route
Altitude 8848m, Duration 69 days, Grade 4D (grades)

Background
Adventure Peaks has achieved outstanding success over recent years in assisting clients achieve their dream of climbing Everest, the worlds highest mountain. We have now organized ten expeditions to the North Side of Everest; making us the most experienced and valued company operating on this side of the mountain.
There are those who scaremonger about the North side of Everest by giving the indication that permits or visas won’t be available, this is a total nonsense and is believed only by those who solely operate on the South side of Everest. Adventure Peaks provides expeditions to the North and South. One can look at history and quote disasters and poor success on the South, our success in recent years has regularly been close to 80%. It is important to keep an open mind whilst comparing an ascent from either side of the mountain after all there is still only one way up and down the Hillary Step and nobody has yet learnt to control the unpredictable falling ice blocks within the Khumbu Icefall! People talk of overcrowding on the notorious second step, this is ancient history since an improved ladder was put in place for ascent and there are ropes that create an alternative decent route allowing two way traffic and no bottlenecks! There are less people climbing from the North to create queuing. Climbing Everest will always have its inherent dangers; you can choose North or South with Adventure Peaks.
The most successful climbers on either side of the mountain tend to be those who have previous experience of 7000m peaks or above, are technically able and confident and have a high level of fitness. Climbing Everest is an enormous undertaking with many obstacles, other than personal ability. We strongly believe that our experience and supportive infrastructure matched with your enthusiasm and commitment will allow you to fulfil your personal ambitions and dreams.
And some of our success and records: on three occasions we have enabled the youngest British climbers to summit; Jake Meyer in 2005 at the age of 21, James Hooper and Robert Gauntlet in 2006 at 19 years and in 2011 George Atkinson at 16 years (He also became the youngest in the world to complete the Seven Summits). In 2004 our whole expedition was filmed for the BBC ‘Challenge Programme’. In 2007 we guided Ian McKeever to the summit as part of his seven summits world record. In 2010 our operations manager Stu Peacock became the first Briton to summit the North Ridge route three times as he led eleven people to summit success.
Base Camp is established at the snout of the Rongbuk Glacier at 5200m, in preparation for the initial ascent of the East Rongbuk Glacier towards the North Col. Intermediate Camp at 5600m breaks the approach to Advance Base Camp and help members acclimatise. Advance Base Camp (6400m) is placed high on the moraine below the North Col. Camp 1 (7010m) on the North Col provides the springboard for the remainder of the ascent. Camp 2 (7500m) situated at the top of the North Ridge snow slopes. Camp 3 (7800m) high up on the North Ridge. Camp 4 (8300m) established below the first step and the start of the more technically challenging section of the ridge. The final summit push will be made from here.
This is a professionally led expedition for experienced mountaineers who want to work as part of a team to tackle the mountain. We do not use the word guided because this may be misleading as is not always possible at this extreme altitude to provide the same level of support safety as you would expect in the traditional sense of guiding. You must therefore have a broad base of mountaineering experience enabling you to climb with confidence and self-sufficiency to enable you to move between and to live in high-mountain camps un-aided or supervised. You will have good support under the supervision and leadership of our experienced high-altitude leaders and Sherpa team.
