Background
This is Africa’s second highest mountain, with gleaming and eroded snow-capped peaks. There are three summits; for walkers Point Lenana 4985m (1B) and for climbers Batian 5199m and Nelion 5188m (3B- S/VS rock). Adventure Peaks, unlike most others, gives you the option to climb them all, ideal if only one of you is a climber, you can enjoy the walk in together and head for your separate summits on the final day. Our choice of route provides excellent acclimatization by traversing Mt Kenya linking two of its most famous trails – the Sirimon and Naro Moru. Throughout the trek offers spectacular ever changing scenery: vistas of vast plains bordering the Great Rift Valley, dense forest, deep gorges, waterfalls, moorland, glaciers and mountain tarns.
Climbers get to tackle the twin peaks of Nelion and Batian via the Mckinders route and the Gates of the Mist to its true summit, a 19 pitch climb on good rock. This is a classic route in spectacular surroundings. Experienced climbers can share the leading.
Mt Kenya can be combined with our Kilimanjaro expedition to complete an ascent of Africa’s two highest mountains.

Pt Batiaan (5199m) & Pt Nelion (5188m) are the true summits of Mt Kenya. These spires can be reached by 20 pitches of rock climbing at around Hard Severe. Bad weather, verglass and the altitude all make this a truely alpine adventure. |
