Pakistan Unclimbed - Central Kharut Peak 6805m - Grade 4C

Central Kharut Peak Expedition

Ever wanted climb an unclimbed peak? You could do just that on Central Kharut Peak in the Karakoram.

Background

K2 Abruzzi Spur
Overlooked by the magnificent proportions of K2, this is a spectacular location for an unclimbed peak…enjoy it! Our approach from Concordia takes us via K2 Base Camp and then onto the immense Goodwin Austen Glacier. We pass below many of the world’s highest summits including Masherbrum and the Gasherbrums, the huge granite needles of the Trango Towers, Grand Cathedral and Muztagh Alta. Throughout our journey we are constantly reminded of the awesome presence of K2, towering over this fabulous mountain location.

During our 2004 K2 summit expedition we discovered the compelling but yet unclimbed Central Kharut Peak, 6805m. From our careful observations and research, it appears to provide a sound intermediate grade climb in the most dramatic of locations, directly below the Abruzzi Ridge of K2 and adjacent to Broad Peak. You are certainly amongst giants here.

The climb should be suitable for the experienced and ambitious mountaineer who is comfortable on Scottish Grade 2/3 winter climbs. This exciting peak will also allow us to view the impressive Broad Peak, one of the easier 8000m peaks. The awesome outlook from this peak provides a chance to locate a summit for future endeavours…

We have alternative peaks in mind for future expeditions; where there is a will there is always an Adventure Peaks way.

Level of support
This expedition is fully supported by our experienced British leader and team of local porters and skilled cooks. In turn, they are accompanied by our carefully selected and professional high altitude climbing porters and perhaps a few of our Nepali Sherpas to add a great deal of strength to our team.
