3rd Jan - Success - The weather this year has been particularly windy and cold, but on the 2nd January, ahead of schedule we put 4 people on the top of Aconcagua. The team decided to miss the rest day at Camp2 and took advantage of the weather forecast rather than sit out the good weather days. Claire reached a high point of 6600m in the Canaletta. Heather decided not to attempt the summit and stopped at camp 2 while the rest of the group made their summit bid. the whole team have had a great time spending Christmas and New Year on the mountain and now plan to get quickly back to the stunning city of Mendoza to reacquaint themselves with steak and wine.

28th Dec - Happy xmas from everyone at basecamp. We arrived today and have installed outselves in our camp.  The weather is beautiful and everyone if feeling very strong. Clare and Tony are cooking xmas dinner tonight and we have celebrated with the Argentinians last night.   We will have a rest day tomorrow and head up for a first carry after boxing day.

21st Dec - Email in from Sean - Roy was the first to arrive in Mendoza on Saturday, minus his bags. Luckily he had his high altitude boots and mitts with him on the plane.  So last night we enjoyed the best steak in Argentina at Facundos in 35C heat with Roy wearing his high altitude gear. The rest of the group arrived today, also minus their bags. Seems Madrid has already broken up for Xmas.

Today and tomorrow the group plan to do the shopping in the local markets and obtain the permits. What a pile of food  for 6 people !

Eventually 1 bag arrived in the hotel lobby this evening. Fed up with waiting the guys went to Mendoza airport and had a hunt around behind the scenes. Incredibly they found the bags !  Group hug all round and set to head up to Puente del Inca, still on schedule.

11th Dec - All the team will depart the UK today for Mendoza on the 19th December.
