30th
Jan - The final members of
the group have left the hotel this morning and on their way to the
airport with Di. they have been enjoying the delights of Mendoza
for the past few days.
The next group will arrive this afternoon
and start their adventure!
25th
Jan - Further Success - Di
made the summit with Barry & Scott Lockwood, Nicholas Wilks,
Peter Haines, Doug Swaffield and Stephen Bishop. ALL the teams are
now back in base camp preparing for their return trek and a relaxing
time in Mendoza. Overall we maintain our high record of success
on Aconcagua with +80% to the summit. Well done to all!
24th
Jan - We have received an
email from the agent updating us on who reached the top with Sean
the other day: Sean, Steven Trigg, Jantoon, Steven Graham, Tony
Hodson, Peter Sunnucks, Matthew Snook, Richard Jarvis and Andrew
Fitzpatrick and Juan. Sadly Harald was taken ill before the summit
day and had to return to Mendoza, he's now fine and enjoying the
sunny mendoza weather, Constance decided to go back down to be with
him and will arrive today in Mendoza.
23rd
Jan - Sean called and left
a message this morning to say that 10 members of the team reached
the summit of Aconcagua, sadly the line was very bad and we did
not get all the names of the clients. We know the following reached
the summit: Jantoon, Steve Graham, Steven Trigg, Sean & Juan.
The rest of the team will be making their attempt tomorrow. We will
probably get the full updated list of names in a couple of days
when they reach base camp.
17th
Jan - Di emailed today to
say that both teams made their first carry up to camp one yesterday.
All team members are good and strong and eating far too much
food! They are having a rest day today and then back up the
mountain tomorrow.
16th
Jan - The group has now settled into basecamp
and managed to sort all the equipment brought in by the 27
mules. They had a great couple of days in Mendoza and enjoyed
the fantastic restaurants and sights. The trek took them 3
days during which we had superb weather and a great "asado", Argentinian
bbq. Dave Pritt will leave tomorrow after seeing them
make their first carry to camp 1. They hope the weather holds
as they start on the actual ascent of aconcagua. Everyone
has seen the doctor this morning and been given a clean bill of
health.
12th
Jan - Both teams arrived safely into Mendoza
with only one bag not arriving on time which is not bad going considering
the numbers in the groups. Today they started their trek from the
road head at Puente del Inca and should arrive at base camp in 2
days time.
11th
Dec - All the team will depart the UK on the
8th January 2010. Dave Pritt, director of Adventure Peaks has joined
the teams to give added logistical support to Di and Sean during
the early stages of the expedition. |
