19th
April An email from Adam arrived today telling
us the team are now back in Kathmandu after their summit attempt
and will spend the next few days soaking up the atmosphere of this
eclectic city before heading back to the UK. All are reported
to be well. Adam will bid his farewells before meeting up
with his new group.
12th
April Our Everest summit team have just bumped
into Adam's group and reported that everyone was going well and
in good spirits.
4th
April The team have now reached Dingboche
in good spirits and are looking forward to their rest / acclimatisation
day tomorrow. The climbers should have had their first views of
Island Peak to the east between Nuptse and Ama Dablam. David Bailey
has had to remain at Tengboche with Lhakpa due to illness but will
hopefully rejoin the group tomorrow.
3rd
April Adam called to tell us the group have
reached Tengboche today. Yesterday they had fantastic views
of Everest for the first time and everyone is in good spirits.
Tengboche houses the largest monastery in the Khumbu region and
is one of the most important Buddhist sites in the world.
The group plan to head to Dingboche tomorrow.
1st
April We've just had a phone call from Adam
and the team who have successfully reached Namche Bazaar, very much
the centre of the Khumba Valley. If the weather has been kind they
should have had their first view of Everest far away in the distance.
Tomorrow will be an acclimatisation day which is traditionally spent
eating apple pie in the village of Khunde!
28th
March ...and they're off. The first of
our teams heading out to Nepal this season flew out today. They
will follow the classic route to Base Camp on the south side of
Mt Everest. At this time of the year there will be a real buzz in
the area as they walk alongside teams hoping to summit the highest
mountain in the world. Kalar Patar will offer a superb view of Everest
and the Sherpa teams working to establish a route through the Khumba
icefall.
19th
March Adam & the team will depart
from the UK on the 28th March.
