MERA & ISLAND PEAK 2005 EXPEDITION.

This trip will be departing on the 21st October.

Update 25/10/05:

The team arrived and are on their way to Base camp. Everything going well to date.

Update 31/10/05:

The team are now at Khare (4800m) and are practicing glacier travel before setting off for the summit attempt.

Sadly Dudley was not feeling too good with the altitude and so has headed back down with Denise. Both are fine but will not be making summit attempts.

Tomorrow the team will be moving up to the Mera La at 5200m.

They are currently aiming for Friday as summit day.

Update 05/11/05:

Success on Mera Peak.

The team reported they had spectacular sunrise views of the surrounding Himalayan Peaks in the clear morning light.

The team are now off the mountain. Daniel, Matthew & Dave are now heading over to Island Peak, whilst the rest of the team are heading back to Kathmandu, aiming to arrive on Tuesday.

 

Island Peak Update 06/11/05:

The team are now in camp just below the Ambulacha Pass, the weather has been fantastic and they've had wonderful views of Baruntse and Lhotse.

Tomorrow the team will head over the pass (c5650m) and descend to meet the west end of the Imja Tsho Lake. The team will rest here for a day before moving on to Island Peak Base Camp.

Island Peak Update 09/11/05:

Success on Island Peak.

Daniel Severn, Matthew Rowlands, Dave Pritt have successfully reached the summit of Island Peak early this morning.

The team are fine and now progressing down the mountain.
