Everest 2012 Expedition News

Current Trips

Leader: Chris Szymiec

21st May: The team are now at ABC and aiming for the 25th to summit. At present the weather looks like it will be good for that day and by the looks of things the decision to hold back from aiming for the 20th as summit day was a good call as the winds were very strong.

Ian has descended back down to base camp due to some bad flu type symptoms, he will depart with the Lhapka Ri team in a couple of days time.

Tomorrow the rest of the team will head up to the North Col for the final time and start the long journey up the North Ridge over the followign couple of days to reach the top camp at 8250m.

Current Trips

Leader: Liam Scott

Team: Iolo J, Eamon E, Kieran L, Christian C, Richard J

13th Feb: Liam phoned in today to say that the group are now back down at Camp 1 after a wild summit day. The team reached the independancy hut in good time despite snow and windy conditions. Other teams above them started to turn round as weather deteriorated. They reached 6500m at which point the visibility turned to white out. This left the team with no choice but to descend. A valiant effort by all in difficult conditions, but such is the way the mountains sometimes. The team are now looking forward to a slap up meal in Mendoza.
