Aconcagua 17th December 2010 Expedition

6th Jan – Max sent the update through of where people got to on Aconcagua: Ashley headed back down from camp 1 on the final ascent, Alison, Viviane and Andrew got to 6000m, Rony got to 6100m, Paul reached 6380m, Mark decided to turn round at 6500, Dorothy got to 6600m, Ross descended from 6800m, David turned round at 6850m. Is was a fantastic achievement by all in some harsh conditions. The team will arrive back in the UK on the 8th & 9th Jan.

2nd Jan – Chris emailed today to say that Alan, Christian and himself reached Aconcagua summit on the 1st of Jan in good weather conditions. Although he did say it was like threading the eye of a needle as the weather either side of their summit day has been terrible with no teams reaching the top. We’ll no more in a couple of days and wish all the team a safe journey back down the mountain.

30th Dec – Chris called in today, the team are at Camp 1 and depending on the weather are planning to move up to Camp 2 tomorrow.

27th Dec – Sadly Simon and Philip have returned to Mendoza after Simon was taken ill at Camp 1. After seeing the doctors Simon is now fine, but will not be able to return to the mountain this season. We wish them a safe journey home.

24th Dec – Max emailed in last night to say that the team are now at Plaza Argentinas base camp (4200m). The team are doing fine and are on schedule. They are looking forward to a days rest before starting the load carries to Camp 1 at 4800m.

20th Dec – Max called in today to say the team are traveling up to Puente Del Inca today and will start the trek tomorrow.

19th Dec – All the team arrived in Mendoza yesterday. They will make thier final preparations today and apply for the permits. They will then travel up to Puente del Inca tomorrow where they will start the trek to base camp the day after.
