Aconcagua

Departed 16th December 2017

Expedition Leader: Chris Kunhardt

31st December

The team made their summit attempt, but due to the conditions and reduced rest time before the forecasted high winds came in it meant that they were unsuccessful this time. A good effort all the same. The team has now returned to Mendoza and will head home in the next few days.

28th December

The team have moved up to Camp Colera early in order to try and grab an early summit bid before a band of bad weather comes in for the rest of the summit window. They plan to make their bid tomorrow.

22nd December

The team are now at base camp and all is well with the group. Tomorrow they will make their first carry to Camp 1.

20th December

Chris has called in this morning to say that everyone is happy and healthy and enjoying the trek in.

19th December

Our next Aconcagua team have started the walk in to Base Camp up the Vacas valley. Here they are all set at Punta de Vacas. Today’s walk is fairly easy although very hot and dusty and takes us through green desert valley scenery surrounded by the steep mountains of the Andes. We will trek up the west side of the Rio de las Vacas to our first camp at Pampa de Lenas (2800m) tonight.
