The South Col is a 70 litre pack, which does sound big but my worry before departure was, would it cope with the kit list and the load carrying on Aconcagua! Also how would it measure up against my old faithful pack that I’ve used on all my expeditions since my first visit to Aconcagua 10 years ago?
13th January. Summit Success! Carrie has just called in with a quick update to say the team arrived at the summit at 2pm local time and arrived back at camp at 5pm local time (roughly 8.30pm UK time). It’s been a long and tiring day for all. A huge congratulations to Rob and Barry from everyone at Adventure Peaks, well done guys!
11th September – 100% SUMMIT SUCCESS: They say that its not about the destination its about the journey and that’s true on many expeditions unless you all reach the destination together in which case it makes for a very emotional summit! Everyone will have their own stories to tell of summit night but I’m happy to say at 7.15 this morning the whole team stood on the summit of Kilimanjaro. It was a cold breezy night but we are all safely back at top camp. Speak soon, Carrie
Scotland this winter has been a real full on season, but as my photos show we were also blessed with some perfect alpine “parts” of the day. So other than the super bright colour of this jacket which I thought was fantastic especially for pictures, the true strength of this jacket really does lie in when you need to baton down the hatches and zip everything up!
