After a relaxing day in Skardu yesterday it is back to business. We have all the expedition equipment to unpack, dry and repack before it gets put into storage for next year. Last night we said goodbye to our awesome cook, our fantastic cook boy and our great high altitude porter. This morning Pete, Paul and Di said goodbye to Jake as he tried unsuccessfully to fly to Islamabad and now has 15 hours of overland transport to look forward to.
6th October – Despite not summiting Sudarshan Parbet, the team reached a high point of 6010m and were rewarded with magnificent views West towards Shivling, Gangotri I,II & III and the collection of unclimbed and unnamed peaks that surrounded them. Once the mountain was cleared, the entire team returned to base camp before spending 2 leisurely days trekking back to Gangotri. A 9 hour bus trip took the team back to Rishikesh before taking the train back to Delhi the following day.
25th November: Summit success! Andy and Phurba reached the summit of Ama Dablam today in light winds with no clouds to obscure the spectacular view. Well done to you both! They are now in Camp 2 and will move down the mountain tomorrow. Di and Will are in Camp 1 tonight and will be moving up the mountain tomorrow to Camp 2 ready to make their summit bid in the next few days, weather permitting – Good luck!
14th Aug, Summit Success! – The team planned to leave in the early hours of Sunday morning, however thunder, lightening, strong winds and snow put a stop to that. So the team decided to wait until the storm had abated. Eventually at 10:00hrs on Sunday morning the team finally made their way up from Camp 3 in their bid to reach the summit of Muztag Ata.
16th Sep 100% SUCCESS RECORD REMAINS INTACT! – Di emailed in to say that all the team reached the summit of Carstensz Pyramid with clear blue skies and not a drop of rain to be seen. So despite the problems seen earlier in the trip with tribal conflicts blocking the route into the mountain, the team still managed to helicopter into base camp and bag the summit. Well done to all and have a safe journey back to the UK
