16th July

Today was the best day’s walking yet, up to Pirin’s highest peak Mount Vihren 2914m. The scramble along the ridge to the top of the marble mountain was the favourite part for most of the group. We were also treated to views over glacial lakes, the Rhodope hills and the rest of the Pirin range.

15th July

We’ve had two great days hiking in Rila mountains, climbing the highest peak in the country, Musala 2926m, and Malovitsya 2729m. Yesterday’s walk finished at the stunning Rila monastery. Beautiful blue lakes, rocky ridges and even some wild horses.

13th July

The team have all arrived safely into Sofia. They have had some free time to have lunch and explore. They will partake in a walking tour of the capital this afternoon taking in the most famous buildings and monuments Sofia has to offer including the Alexander Nevski Cathedral. This evening they will drive to the Rila mountains.
