13th August 2013: Zac called today to say they have all successfully summited Carstensz Pyramid at 8am local time. It was a 6 hour climb and scramble to get to the top through good weather which eventually deteriorated at the summit followed by a A 5 hours decent to Base Camp and celebration!

12 August 2013: Zac called today to say that they will make their summit bid tomorrow. The trek into base camp was quite arduous but they were presented with clear views of their objective in the mornings. The afternoons generally bring rain. They plan to start their summit climb at 2 a.m. so as to make the most of the clear weather. This will be the 5th of Sebastian’s 7 summits. If all goes to plan then after this he will have Mt Vinson & Everest to do, along with the South Pole for good measure.

7 August 2013: Zac rang to say the team were at the first camp on the trek. Everyone’s OK but there is a Porter’s strike today, so they’ve finished early, and although it’s still 3 days to Base Camp, they’re on course, so they’re happy.

3rd August 2013: Zac called to say the team has met up and are now on their way to the mountain. They had a late flight to Timika overnight and then on to Sugapa early on the 5th. Then 30 mins on the back of motorbikes (!) and 2 hour trek to the first village. A total of 6 days trek in. It doesn’t sound like there will be anyone else on the mountain.
