18th July

the Elbrus Team

Great weather allowed the team to make good progress on the ascent of Mt Mukal, 3899m and stunning views across the Baskan Valley towards Elbrus.

From the hotel we drive as far as we can along the road up the Syltran -Su Valley to begin the trek to the peaceful Lake Syltrankel. Here we have lunch, set up camp at around 3000m and take a look at tomorrow’s climb.

After international flights, the internal flight to Mineralnye Vody, and then the drive to the Baksan Valley, it is good to get to the hotel and settle in.   The best way to get ready for any trip is always to get eating!
