Elbrus 1st September – Leader Gavin Kellett

9th September

100% Success. Gavin emailed to say all the team are now back down at the hotel after a successful summit bid. It was a cold day but with clear blue skies. The team are now looking forward to a shower, clean clothes and a beer!

7th September

The group have made their acclimatisation walk to the top of the rocks of Pastukhov (4725m) today. All members are feeling strong, they will have a rest day at the barrels tomorrow and are looking at making their summit bid the 9th September.

5th September

The team had decidedly Scottish weather on Mukal Peak yesterday, but the group coped well at just under 4000m. We were up early this morning and back to Cheget to dry kit and prepare to head to the barrels tomorrow. Photo’s courtesy of Steve Castree.

2nd September

Gavin sent a message today to say the group have arrived safe and well in Cheget after enjoying a lovely lunch en route.

We have met Vladimir, our local guide, briefed the group and carried out a kit check. Heading off for three days at Lake Syltrankel in the morning.
