Elbrus 9th August 2008 Expedition News

Team: Duncan Sissons, Paul Metcalfe, Philip Hughes, Stephen Hilton, Richard Hughes, Geordie Stewart, Matthew Elmes

23rd August – The team have now arrived back in the UK.

18th August – SUCCESS – Chris rang today to say that all the team reached the summit at around 9.30am this morning, weather was not fantastic but didn’t cause too much of a problem. The group set off at 3am and took the snow cat up to the rocks at 4600m and set off at 3.54am. They will soon be arriving at the Prijut 11 hut and are hoping to descend down into the valley today.

14th August – Chris rang today to say that the team had completed both of their acclimatisation peaks. Duncan & Stephen decided to head back down to camp on Krumrichi but all are now safe back down at camp. The weather has not been too pleasant today, but the team are well and are now looking forward to moving across to Elbrus itself.

11th August – Chris has contacted the office to say that the team had all arrived safely in Moscow and they were en-route to Mineralnye Vodi.

4th August – The team will be departing the UK on the 9th August
