Elbrus South 22nd June

Summit night JKW Elbrus 13th June 2019

Elbrus South 22nd June

Leader: John Walker

1st July

Sadly no summit for the team this time the weather was very much against them despite their best efforts. The 60-70kph winds and -20C temperatures stopped anyone reching the summit. The team pushed on towards the saddle while other teams were turning back, they reched 5250m before the winds started to increase and the trail dissappeared into the whirling spindrift. Here are some photos from the last few days:

28th June

John has sent some pictures of the team enjoying the acclimatisation stages of the trip:

24th June

The team have all arrived safely and have headed for their first trek to the Syltran-Su valley on Mount Mukal which offers views across the beautiful valleys to Elbrus. To increase their chance of success they gradually gain height taking time to acclimatise.

The team depart the UK on the 22nd of June
