Leader: Liam Scott

Team: Jerry B, Friedhelm B, Bjorn N, Tor-Eivind F, Mette S

16th Aug – Liam emailed through the final update for the group.

Sadly Jerry was having problems with an old knee injury and decided it was too painful to carry on, so stayed at base camp. the rest of the team moved up to Camp 1. Bjorn & Tor decided that they did not want to carry on any further and headed down to base camp. This left Liam, Mette and Friedhelm and the local guide. They headed up to Camp 2, which proved extremely hard work due to the conditions. Once at camp 2 the weather started to deteriorate and Mette and Friedhelm decided that they did not want to attempt the summit. All the team are now down safe and in high spirits despite not reaching the summit.

12th Aug – Liam called in tonight to say the team are now at Huascaran base camp. They will move up to Camp 1, at a height of 4300m, tomorrow. All the team are fine and looking forward to the challenge ahead.

11th Aug – Liam emailed in last night to say that all the team are well and have successfully bagged Pisco on a sunny but windy day. They are now resting before they head back out to attempt their main objective of Huascaran. Apparently the word around Huaraz is that the conditions on the mountain are the best they’ve been in a long time, which is great news for the team.

4th Aug – Liam and the team have trekked to Ishinca base camp where they will climb Ishinca at just over 5250m.

2nd Aug – Mette has finally arrived into Lima in the early hours of the morning. The rest of the team are now in Huaraz and will spend the day resting and acclimatising there.

1st Aug – All the team except Mette have arrived in Lima on the 30th and spent the day sightseeing in lima yesterday. Mette missed a connecting flight and will arrive tonight and will catch up with the rest of the team tomorrow. The rest of the team will take the coach ride to Huaraz today.

At 6768m, Huascaran is Peru’s highest mountain and the fourth highest peak in the whole of the American Continent.

23rd July – Liam and the team will arrive in Lima on the 30th July.
