The group in the Hotel Foucauld

Trekking expedition to the High Atlas of Morocco with an ascent of Mount Toubkal (4165m). Read more and book online.

The team departed for Marrakech from Manchester on Saturday 4th July and all arrived safe and well the same day.
Leaders: Natalie Wilson and Andrew Hart

4th July 2015
Nat sent a text in to say everyone has arrived safely and they are enjoying a wonderful meal in the Hotel Foucauld

6th July 2015 – 1030hrs
Today the group left their lodge in Tachedirt at 0700 and are now enjoying a soft drink at the col of Tizi n Tamatert. Yesterday we had arranged a nice surprise for birthday boy, Iwan, in the form of a lovely birthday cake which was waiting for him when they arrived in Tachedirt yesterday. Evidently it was ‘awesome’!

7th July 2015 – 1900hrs
Everyone is now installed in the Refuge de Toubkal at 3200m, where they will have the pleasure of sleeping like ‘sardines in a tin’ in the cosy dormitories! Tomorrow’s plan is for an acclimatisation walk to the Tizi Ounoums (3684m) in preparation for their ascent of Toubkal the following day

8th July 2015 – 1500hrs
Nat has sent a text in to say everyone is doing really well. They had an enjoyable acclimatisation walk today and are now all back in the refuge and will be getting an early night in preparation for an early start tomorrow for their summit day. I am sure that Nat will be determined to get everyone to the top – just like she did on Mount Kenya in April 2014.
It does sound as if the weather is very similar to the UK weather at the moment – dodging storms especially in the afternoon. However it will be a lot hotter back in Marrakech in a couple of days time!

9th July 2105 – 1400hrs
Nat has just phoned in while on the way back to Aremd to report that EVERYONE reached the summit of Toubkal at around 0830 local time this morning. The ascent took just over 4 hours, which is a superb effort that they can be proud of. Congratulations to them all! Soon they will be back in the village where they can relax and celebrate, before heading off to Marrakech tomorrow.
Hopefully we may get some pictures sent to post here later today
