Kyajo Ri Expedition

Kyajo Ri Expedition

30th September – 22nd October 2017

Expedition Leader: Tom Horrocks

10th October

The team have made it up to Glacier Camp (5400m) and are looking forward to a rest day tomorrow to rest tired legs. The plan is to make a summit bid on Thursday as the weather looks clear.

6th October

Tom called today to say that they are at Mende, and are heading up to base camp as planned tomorrow. Everyone is going fine.

4th October

Having sorted the last minute kit checks in Kathmandu, the team flew to Lukla and due to poor weather took a helicopter rather than the usual twin-prop plane up into the mountains. They are now starting to acclimatise as they trek up the valley towards Namche Bazaar. The route up to Kyajo Ri takes the beautiful and quiet Thame valley before forking off up to Kyajo Ri base camp.
