Mera & Island Peak

Departs: 7th April 2018

Leader: David Gladwin

23rd April

The team had a big day today coming over the Amphu Laptsa pass from Mera Peak and are now safely at Island Peak base camp. They are planning to have a rest day there tomorrow to recover before looking at a summit bid on Island Peak in the next few days.

20th April

Congratulations to David and our team on Mera Peak who reached the summit this morning.  The weather in the end turned out fine (after mixed weather on the way in), a little bit blustery on the top but they could see for miles! Some of the team will now move to Island Peak, the rest will head back to down through Khare to Lukla.

18th April

The team have spent two nights in Khare, and yesterday they had a rest day to aid their acclimatisation.  Today the team move to the Mera La.

12th April

The team have now arrived at Chalem Kharka (4200m). The weather has been a bit of a mixed bag today, but is not dampening the spirits of the team. Tomorrow they will head to Chunbu Khaka before heading back down into the Hinku valley en-route to Mera Peak.

9th April

The team have trekked to Poyan and are all feeling good and getting to know each other.  Their flight to Lukla went fine and although a bit cloudy it has been a nice day for trekking.

3rd April

Final preperations are underway for the team who are due to depart in a few days’ time.
