24th April. The team are now back at Lukla and currently enjoying playing pool at the Irish Bar and taking in the sights and sounds before flying out today. Its been a pleasant last few days with sightseeing in Namchee and enjoying fantastic views of Everest and Ama Dablam. Home soon, Francis.

20th April. Francis called today with an update. After the success on Mera Peak the team were feeling quite confident. The head wall on Island Peak appeared to be unusually icy however which would make the ascent technically harder than usual. As they progressed, the team were going rather slower than Francis would have liked, with the heat from the rising sun becoming quite intense early on in the day at this time of year. Francis took the difficult decision to turn the group back at the foot of the final steep head wall.

19th April: We have just had a final update from Francis preparing for the summit attempt in around 8 hours. They have been enjoying a rest day at High Camp with good weather and no fresh snow, spending their time eating and filling in of crosswords in preparation for tonight.

They expect to set off at 3am and arrive 7-8am local time. As most teams are below them at Base Camp they will miss any crowds on the mountain.

Good luck to the entire team from us at Adventure Peaks!

18th April: Everyone is enjoying the rest day and the whole team are feeling strong and looking forward to the Summit attempt. We expect to move towards Base Camp tomorrow or depending on conditions straight up to high camp. Summit attempt is looking to be Saturday or Sunday now.

17th April: We have safely crossed the Amphulapsa pass and all coped extremely well. We’re now resting at Chukhung and looking forward to a days rest before attempting Island Peak

14th April: Francis called today to say that 5 out of 6 of the clients reached the summit of Mera Peak this morning. Philip decided to turn round 300m below the summit. All the team are fine. Alfonso & Philip are now heading back to Kathmandu for their return journey. The rest of the group are now making their way to the Amphulapsa pass and on to Island Peak.

7th April:The team have now reached Tagnang. All are well and they discovered somewhere that sold Pringles en-route so are enjoying the treat! The weather has been good and has followed a pattern of clear mornings with a lights breeze, with clouds buidling up in the afternoon. It is about 4-5 degrees at the moment as they settle in for the evening.

Tomorrow they will head up to Khare at 4850m followed by a well earned rest day with perhaps an acclimatisation walk to a view point, and time to gather their strength before the ascent of Mera Peak.

3rd April: We have now arrived at the village of Najingdingma. The whole group are doing well and in good spirits. More updates later this week as we get closer to the Amphu Lapcha pass. Francis

2nd April: We’re in Poyan, all well. Overcast today with a very light shower in the afternoon. Porters all very helpful and good food this eve, everyone has a good appetite. Francis

1st April: We had a late arrival last night as some of the clients flights were diverted to KolKata! due to wind in Kathmandu. We’re now enjoying a lunch in the sunrise hotel Lukla before trekking on to Poyan. Francis
