From High camp the team made their successful summit bid on Alpamayo. At 10.30am the team were stood on their expedition Objective, Alpamayo 5947m.
Today, the team have reached the high camp of Alpamayo at 5300m. Now they just have the final summit climb to contend with.
Yesterday the team walked from Cashapampa to Lllama Coral, a stunning trek along the beautiful Santa Cruz valley. Shortly they will arrive at Alpamayo base camp. There are two camps above base camp, moraine camp is at 4900m and high camp is at 5300m.
Despite a delay with Tom's luggage from Amsterdam, the team all made it safely to Huaraz and started their acclimatisation with a trek to Laguna Chirup. They then moved on to Ishinca base camp and climbed Ishinca on Saturday.
Today, the team are climbing the more technical Ulta Chico, after which they will make their way over to the Santa Cruz valley, where they will walk in to Alpamayo.
The team will arrive into Lima tomorrow. They will then make their way to Huaraz, where they will spend some time acclimatising and making their final preparations before heading to the mountains.
Stu Peacock is a very experienced high altitude mountaineer who has been to the Summit of Everest, Broad Peak, Cho Oyu, Manaslu and climbed on K2. His other expeditions include: Ama Dablam, Annapurna IV, Peak Lenin, Aconcagua, Khan Tengri, Tien Shan Unclimbed, Korzhenevskaya, Himlung Himal, Baruntse, Mera & Island Peak, Alpamayo, Bolivian Peaks, Spantik, Carstensz Pyramid, Elbrus, MtArarat, Mexican Volcanoes, Mt Kenya and Kilimanjaro. He was the first Brit to summit Everest via the North Ridge 3 times and has climbed Everest from both the North & South sides.
