Leader: Chris Harling
Sadly, the weather forecast deteriorated as the team moved up to Camp 2. Strong winds and over 50cm of snow in a 24 hour period made it impossible for the team to continue safely up the mountain for their summit attmept. They have now returned to base camp.
The weather is looking challenging for the next couple of days, but the team have moved up to Camp 1 to attempt a summit bid on the 28th or 29th Oct. Michael made the decision to stay at base camp, happy with his climb up to Camp 2 on the first rotation.
After completing their carry to lower camp 2 on the 18th the team are spending a night at upper camp 2, before getting some additional height in and then returing to base camp for some rest
Today the team made their first carry to Camp 1. One of the steepest parts of the route whole route, which involves scaling snow covered rocky cliffs.
After spending the night at Sabej Khola, the team have now arrived at base camp. Chris says the mountain looks great. Our sherpa team have already fixed to camp 2, so are well on schedule for rigging the route. Tomorrow, they will have the puja ceremony in the morning and practice fixed line training in the afternoon.
Great day climbing up to Ngawal Village and up 1700 steps to Guru Padna Cave. Incredible views across the valley to Annapurna 2, 4 and 3. Was fantastic to finally see our peak and the summit ridge we hope to follow in a few weeks.
Michael and Stella, who brought their head torches climbed down into the cave for 30 plus metres and disappeared for a few minutes before clambering back out of the darkness covered in dust! We descended all 1700 steps for lunch back at Ngawal before returning to Humde. A great day in perfect conditions!
Now finished our jeep trek and arrived in the beautiful Humde village. Awesome views of Annapurna 3 and Pisang Peak from here! All looking forward to stretching our legs on a visit up to Guru Padna Cave tomorrow for some Devine inspiration and hopefully our first views of our objective!
Long drive to Besisahar yesterday and woke up to glorious views and an awesome breakfast at the Himalaya Gateway by the pool before the drive up to Chame.
Today, has been a day filled with breifings, food shopping and sight seeing. Tonight is culture evening, where we get treated to local foods, dancing and the pantomime yak!
The team all arrive in Kathmandu
