Leader: Di Gilbert
Unfortunately, the team were not able to make any further progress up the mountain.
They had to contend with difficult snow conditions throughout the start of their trip, meaning the fixing team was not able to make as much progress as they'd have liked.
Given the forecast of continuous fresh snow through the next week, including their initial summit window, the team has decided to head back down the mountain.
The team made it up to camp 2 and will be spending the night there before heading down tomorrow to rest.
The team reached camp 1 before returning to base camp to rest, before heading further up the mountain tomorrow.
The team are now at base camp and took a short walk up towards camp 1 before returning to prepare for their rotations.
A morning acclimatisation trek up to Ngawal and up to the Nea Cave - 4020m. Obviously via the coffee shop for chocolate brownie, carrot cake and carrot cake muffins. Heading up to intermediate camp tomorrow.
Our team has now arrived in the Annapurna Conservation Area. Their drive has taken them through tropical and mountain forests, and numerous small villages. The mountains are getting closer....
The team all arrive in Kathmandu
Di Gilbert works full time as an Independent Mountaineering Instructor, based in the Cairngorm National Park. She has never had a proper job and it is unlikely that this will change now. Di has stood on the bottom of the world without falling off, she has stood on top of the world without suffering from vertigo, she has climbed the world's 7 summits and completed all 282 Munros.
Wishing you all the best for a successful summit! Stay safe and look forward to hearing your updates as you progress up on Annapurna IV.
