It's a long day, but we had great weather, moon, stars, beautiful sunrise, panoramic views, and sunshine on the way down. Approximately a 10-11 hour day, and we were relatively quick! Betty's place is great, the setting is wonderful, set in tropical gardens looking out to the mountains

21st June 2026 - Arrival in Papua New Guinea

It’s been a long journey but finally the group have all arrived in Papua New Guinea and looking forward to a great adventure in this far off country. Our quaint hotel is tucked away amongst palms and colourful flowers not too far from the airport. Our introduction to the exotic nature of this country started to unveil itself with a visit to a local nature reserve. Colourful birds, orchids, kangaroos and a snake house (many non venomous 🙂). Group dinner where fish and tandoori chicken proved to be favourites. Next step back to Port Moresby airport for our internal flight to Mt Hagen domestic airport in readiness for My Giluwe the highest volcano in AustroAsia (one of the volcanic 7 summits, highest on each continent)
