Mount Khuiten - Expedition News - 3rd August 2025

8th August 2025 - Summit Success on Malchin Peak

Yesterday the team made the dramatic 15km trek to base camp, assisted by Bactrian Camels which are used to transport all the equipment. They were also rewarded with their first views of their climbing objectives: Malchin Peak, Nairamdal & Mount Khuiten (As seen right to Left in the last photo below). Today, the team broke the 4000m barrier with their ascent of Malchin Peak. It was a long ascent ascending scree slopes. Tomorrow, they will have a rest day and then plan to move up to the high camp on Sunday, with a view to climb Mount Khuiten on Monday and Nairamdal on Tuesday.

6th August 2025 - Team in Ulgii

As part of the cultural tour the team got to meet a Golden Eagle and also try on what looks to be the latest in Scottish winter climbing attire... After the flight to Ulgii the team were transported to Khushuut where they enjoyed a picnic lunch.

5th August 2025 - First Mountain Completed!

The team have climbed their first peak in Mongolia, Tsagaan Peak (Round White Peak), in the Bogd Khan national park. They then finsihed off packing for their flight to Ulgii and head out for another delightful night out.

4th August 2025 - Team Arrival into Ulaanbaatar

All the team have now arrived into Ulaanbaatar. They were taken on a city tour before their evening meal and cultural concert, which included music by the national orchestra, Mongolian throat singing and acrobatic archery. Tomorrow will be their first acclimatisation walk.

3rd August 2025 - Trip Begins
