With relatively consistent winter conditions, epic landscapes and beautiful ice, you will learn the fundamentals of ice climbing in the stunning Slovenian Alps. Over several days, you work with UIAGM guides to learn equipment use, basic movement on ice, efficient tool placement, and simple rope techniques. The focus is on developing solid skills, good judgment, and confidence in a winter mountain environment. The week culminating (if conditions allow) with a winter assent of Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak (2864m).

The week builds toward a memorable finale (conditions and ability permitting) — a winter ascent of Triglav’s north face, Slovenia’s highest peak

Carrie Gibson has traveled on many of our expeditions including Everest North Ridge, Denali, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Island Peak & Ama Dablam. Carrie is also the first British woman to summit Himlung Himal.
