Leader: Chris Mothersdale
It has been quite an adventure! The convoluted travel arrangements (apart from potential travel sickness on the road journey back to Kathmandu...) did have one benefit: plenty of time to chill out in Kathmandu.
Thanks to the current weather conditions, Lukla is the involuntary place to be... Our group remains literally grounded. No flights in and no flights out. Even if aeroplanes become available on Sunday (02 November), logistics remain problematic. Landslides mean that the road journey from Ramechhap to Kathmandu may be over ten hours! Helicopters are an alternative option. However, the demand for these flights will be high. The backlog is increasing... Fingers crossed for our intrepid group!
The team leave Namche Bazaar today and are well on their way to Lukla, to prepare for their flight out to Kathmandu.
The team moved up to high camp on the 27th but unfortunately due to the forecast that followed, they had to abandon the summit attempt and start to make their way back down.
They returned to Dingboche yesterday and are now making their way to Namche Bazaar.
The team have now made it to around 4600m and also visited the memorials after some lunch
The team have completed their acclimatization hike up to the Hotel Everest View, just under 3900m
Arrival in Namche Bazaar
The team are now in Ramechhap waiting for their flight to Lukla to begin trekking
The team will begin their adventure, departing the UK for Kathmandu.
