Chris messaged yesterday to say heavy snow and strong winds had forced the team to abandon plans of attempting Peak Lenin, but despite the challenging conditions they still pushed up from Camp 2 to attempt Razdelnaya. Adam, Nick & Nakul reached the summit with Phurba. Sharon reached 5650m and Finn got to 5500m on this rotation, although managed to get to 5800m and 5900m respectively on the previous rotation.
Today, the summit team moved up to Camp 2. The weather forecasts have been quite changeable, which has been making planning the summit bid a challenge for the team. The photos below were taken by Nakul & Finn. Tomorrow they plan to move up to Camp 3 with a view making their summit bid on Wednesday.
Friday and Saturday were two days of rest. On Sunday, we head to Camp 2 so that we can time our summit day effectively.
Yesterday, the team moved up to Camp 2 on Peak Lenin and today they had an acclimatisation day heading up to the hump at 5800m.
After practising their skills on the glacier, yesterday, the team climbed Yukhina Peak and camped on the summit to aid acclimatisation. Today, the team are resting and making final preparation before the head up to Camp 2 on Peak Lenin.
The team has now moved up to advanced base camp and have started practicing some skills in preparation for the coming days
Yesterday, after a quick dash around the local supermarket, the team made the 6 hour journey to Achik-Tash Base Camp. Today, they made their first acclimatisation walk to 4200m, along the ridge of Petrovskogo Peak.
Chris Mothersdale has been climbing in the UK, Europe and across the world over a number of decades. He started rock climbing in Yorkshire on Gritstone before taking on larger objectives both in the UK and abroad. Rock climbing progressed to Ice Climbing in Scotland before climbing in the Greater Ranges in Europe, Africa, South and North America and Asia. Mountaineering has enabled him to climb on every continent and to explore many of the the wonders of the world.
