17th July 2026 - Acclimatisation to Razdelnaya
The team took a short acclimatisation walk over to Razdelnaya before resting and spending the night at C3.
15th July 2026 - Summit success on Razdelnaya
The team members who were only doing Razdelnaya made it to the summit successfully, whilst the remainder of the team rested at C2, ready for the following days.
13th July 2026 - Waiting at ABC
Snowed in at ABC for a few days now. The route to C2 has been closed, with no movement up or down from C2 on the day we should have moved up. Heavy snowfall has continued and we wanted to leave a clear 24 hours before moving up.
10th July 2026 - Plans in Place
Yesterday, the team climbed Yukhin Peak at a height of 5137m. Weather permitting, they plan to move up to Camp 2 for their first rotation to Camp 3 and Razdelnaya summit.
7th July 2026 - Trek to Camp ABC
6th July 2026 - Acclimatisation at Base Camp
Today, the group have walked up to over 4000m on Petrovsky Peak, as part of their acclimatisation before heading to Advance Base Camp.
5th July 2026 - Arrival at Base Camp
After their internal flight, the team made it to Osh, then headed over to Base Camp the following day.
3rd July 2026 - Heading to Bishkek
About Patrick Hickie
Patrick is a qualified Winter Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor (WMCI), the highest of the UK’s climbing qualifications, and also a qualified International Mountain Leader (IML).
His climbing stretches back over 40 years and he has been lucky enough to climb in such far flung places as Alaska (on Denali), New Zealand and Patagonia; in Africa on Mt Kenya and Kilimanjaro; and in the Karakoram and the Nepal Himalaya. This has included a very technical first ascent in Nepal and an attempted second ascent in the Gasherbrum range. He has led expeditions to all the ’usual’ 6000m summits in the Khumbu region. Closer to home, he has climbed extensively in the UK, the Alps and Scandinavia.
While he loves to travel, Patrick is equally happy rock climbing in North Wales, winter climbing on the cliffs of Ben Nevis and just wandering about in the Lake District fells.
