20th July 2026 - Acclimatising at Base Camp

Today the team walked up to over 4000m as part of their acclimatisation at base camp, known as Achik-Tash. They plan to stay another night here before heading up to ABC.

19th July 2026 - Arrival at Base Camp

After their internal flight, the team made it to Osh, then headed over to Base Camp the following day.

17th July 2026 - Heading to Bishkek

About Jim Evans

Jim Evans is a highly experienced mountaineer and mountain professional based in the Lake District, with over forty years spent climbing, guiding and working in mountain environments. Early in his career he joined the instructional team at Glenmore Lodge, the Scottish National Centre for Mountain Activities, where he developed his skills in Scottish winter mountaineering, transferring this knowledge and experience to larger ranges. He later returned to the Lake District to work in outdoor education before spending many years with Brathay Trust in Ambleside in both technical and leadership roles.

A qualified Winter Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor (WMCI) and member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors, Jim has led climbing and mountaineering programmes across the UK and internationally, including eight expeditions to Arctic Greenland.
