Today the group flies out to Macedonia. Following a night in Skopje, the adventure begins!
From Mother Teresa to vipers and volleyball, Team Silverdale Scouts have had a varied day. Hiking through the lucious valley, vipers were spotted basking in the sun, a stark difference in setting to the impormptu volleyball match against local children on the way to the shop! followed by a relaxing evening in camp in a beautiful setting.

After our leisurely riverside breakfast, our intrepid scouts set off! We meandered through the Matka Canyon before walking up to the St Nicholas Shishevski Monastery. From here, we began our steep ascent to Kota Peak. Lunch (plus more patting of dogs and card games...) called. The only contour lines left to tackle were those that led steeply downhill to the riverbank. Here, we were met by a boat that took us to the Vrelo Cave , where we could get up, close and personal with bat guano... All that then remained was to wander back to the campsite.

Today, the team ascended Medenica Peak, a mountain clad in cowslips and wildflowers of every description. Their favourite sights of the day included views of Mount Korab on the Albanian border, a fledgling skylark, and another snake (of course...).

n early start to avoid the mid-afternoon rain. Magaro Peak and it's beautiful ridge was our goal. A stunning trek with views of one of Europe's oldest lakes, Lake Ohrid, and Lake Prespa. Within fifteen minutes of arriving back at the hut, the heavens opened. The evening ended with a competitive game of darts. It seems that the Brits are not necessarily the best dart players in the world...

Our last day here, but there was time for a dip in Lake Ohrid and a trip around town to soak up the local culture and revel in our achievement.
