Rock Climbing Improvers Course, 15th – 16th April 2017

Two great days out with Richard and Lucinda on the Rock Improvers Course. Both indoor climbers, who’d only previously top roped, lead multi-pitch routes outside by the end of the weekend. A mixed forecast didn’t stop them from climbing iconic Lakeland rock climbs in both Langdale and Borrowdale with our careful progression and support. They wanted to cover all the essentials whilst climbing routes, including; belaying, placing gear, setting up anchors, safe communication and how to set up abseils, which Adventure Peak delivered, matching their enthusiasm.

Jim was one of the best instructors we’ve worked in any field. He qualified what we wanted to learn, our current ability and goals for the two days right at the beginning of the course and then tailored the learning approach for both Lucinda and I. We wanted to learn how to lead multi-pitch routes and at the end of two days not only had we covered most of the required core skills but also successfully lead our first multi-pitch routes, in the rain too!
