When you think of the Alps, everyone’s dream is to climb the big three; the Eiger, the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. We have combined these and more into a two week adventure. The Alpine Big Three course is ideal for those with some previous Alpine and Rock Climbing experience. If you have no previous mountaineering experience, we recommend that you join one of our Alpine Introductory Courses before attempting this challenge.
Mont Blanc Ascent
We may ascend by either the Gouter Route or the route over Mont Blanc du Tacul and Mont Maudit from the Col du Midi (Alpine Grade PD/PD+). Both offer a great challenge and spectacular views.
Mittellegi Ridge D or South Ridge AD. The Mittelegi or South Ridge routes can be taken according to conditions however the plan would be to ideally traverse the mountain via the two ridges, up the Mittellegi Ridge and down the South Ridge. The Eiger is the lowest but the most technical of the Alpine Big Three.
Hornli Ridge AD- or SW Italian Ridge AD. We usually climb the iconic ‘Hornli’ Ridge AD- from Zermatt but sometimes may choose to climb the SW Italian Ridge AD from Cervinia.
Please note the exact programme may vary according to hut availability and the prevailing conditions.
