Eiger

Rated 4.00 out of 5 based on 1 customer rating
(1 customer review)

Altitude: 3970m | Switzerland | Grade: Intermediate level | 6 Mountain Days | Guide ratio 1:2 then 1:1 on the Eiger

The Eiger, like the Matterhorn, is an iconic peak. The aim of this course is ideally to traverse the mountain via two ridges with an ascent of the Mittellegi Ridge and the descent via the South Ridge to the Monchsjoch Hut to complete a classic traverse of the mountain. The Mittellegi Ridge is a fantastic steep knife edged ridge offering excellent climbing with little or no objective danger. However if conditions are snowy we may opt to climb the South Ridge instead.

We are based in Grindelwald for the course. The start of the week is spent acclimatising on classic 4000m peaks in the Bernese Oberland such as the Gros Grünhorn and Finsteraarhorn.

Previous Experience

This course is suitable for those with previous Alpine mountaineering experience. If you don’t have Alpine experience we recommend one of our Introduction courses.

It is vitally important that you have adequate travel insurance for your trip with Adventure Peaks. We recognise the complexity and variety of choice in the insurance market and know that many of you either have your own preferred insurer or have annual multi trip cover in place already. If this is the case, please ensure that your insurer is aware of your Adventure Peaks itinerary and can agree to cover the activities being undertaken.

Adventure Peaks do not provide any advice on travel insurance, although it is a requirement of our booking conditions that you have travel insurance which covers the activities which you are likely to be undertaking on your holiday. Cover must include emergency medical, helicopter evacuation, repatriation and rescue expenses.

    Edward

I chose Adventure Peaks as i liked your brochure, dealing with staff and discounts in the shop.

Your guide was excellent. He had to change the proposed itinerary due to weather. He was also accomplished at changing the routes on the Matterhorn and Eiger due to the conditions. I felt safe and confident with his decision making. I would not hesitate in going with you again.

Thanks again to Boris and Adventure Peaks.
