Despite the lashings of rain, sleet and occasional snow, I have had a fantastic time on this 2 day course.

Our leader Mike was just amazing with the confidence he instilled in us to go out on to the hills in the snow. He was patient, and knew exactly how to pitch this course for all of us in our group.

I felt privileged to have him as our leader and also lucky to have 2 wonderful people with whom I completed the course with. Good luck to Mike and thank you so much.

We had a great weekend, David was an excellent guide, gets the job done, with a relaxed fun attitude. The instruction he gave us and his general approach to his job was excellent, couldn’t fault in anyway. Two great days in the mountains, learned a lot, was a great way to see Scotland for first time. I would definitely recommend Adventure Peaks.

Course instructor was a nice down to earth chap who managed to be good fun and very knowledgeable and approachable for any advice…the highlights were the people I met and the skills gained to proceed in future in winter conditions.

Three enjoyable days in the hills with a competent instructor. Learned and practised a lot of basic techniques and info on snow and avalanche risk. Also experience of poor visibility – useful lesson that a single weekend course isn’t enough to become a competent navigator in bad weather. Very decent country hotel with good food and ale. Pleasant atmosphere meeting people on a range of courses and experience/abilities over dinner and in the bar. I had confidence in the instructor. He was considerate of the ability of party members and coached rather than hectored or lectured.

Quality coaching and very well organised. Graham [instructor] was great, I learned lots, he also had some great stories and examples. Quick mention for Chris too, went out of his way to check we were happy and his briefings were great. Loved it, would recommend and I’ll be back for more next year.

A good experience. Great view from the room. Very friendly staff and excellent food. [Phil, course instructor was] a top bloke. [Highlight was] day 3 – putting what we were taught into practice.

A great weekend despite the snow conditions [being] unusually sparse! The hotel was perfect with great food and very welcoming. Our instructor Phil was fantastic – relaxed, understanding and adapted the training as needed. He’s friendly and knowledgeable. In challenging weather conditions with wind, rain and a lack of snow he delivered as much winter skills training as was possible. The hired kit was good quality, the avalanche awareness evening great fun. I will definitely come back another time. A thoroughly enjoyable course!

Everything was very well organised and at no point was I made to feel uncomfortable about asking questions or doing anything risky. Having one to one tuition was a real bonus and John was a great teacher and good company on the hill. Very knowledgeable, put me at my ease and infinitely patient! Good guy. I truthfully can’t fault my experience. My highlight was putting into action all that I’d been learning over the previous days on the last day. Climbing in the Mamores with good weather and lots of snow was a brilliant experience and the ridge walking was a truly wonderful experience. This is a really well-run course and I will definitely be returning in the future.

Lucy was a superb leader. She managed the three days perfectly to suit the capabilities and wishes of the group. She was able to be directive as a leader must be but without being dictatorial. I learned a lot from her little talks on subjects such as flora and fauna, snow types, avalanches, refreshers on basic techniques, weather forecasting etc. I would happily go onto the hills with her again…we had three really good strenuous days on the hills, helped by the good weather on two of the days. The Western Highlands area is magnificent when seen from the top of a snow covered Munro. It was also good to interact with the other groups over dinner and meet new people. The manager of the hotel was particularly helpful as I sorted out changes to my travel arrangements.
