Everest Success.
Another summit bid is accomplished. A big well done to the team for their efforts. Mick reached the summit around 4:40am followed by Chris, Andrew Whyte & Phurba at 5am. Andy Taylor & Lahkpa reached the summit around 5:30am. Due to the wind & cold Chris said they spent around 15 minutes on the top before heading back down the mountain.
5th May – We safely arrived in Lhasa today – lovely hotel. Group spent the afternoon sightseeing in glorious warm sunshine – it really is a lovely city. The Potala Palace is simply spectacular! We have a free day tomorrow and are all very much looking forward to flying home on the 6th.
Simon was keen to find out if he has what it takes to climb Everest so we created a bespoke version of our Scottish Winter Walking Skills course.
Everest Summit Success
Seb and I were lucky enough to see the view from the highest point in the world, for a brief time. As soon as we were lower down the mountain, the weather deteriorated with high winds and heavy snow.
22 May 2013: Summit Success! Angus, Beth, Brian Paul & Rob are standing on top of the world. Melissa, Nick & Sam are not far behind still approaching the summit. A big well done to all the team and staff for there efforts over the last 52 days
25th May: Summit Success! Chris, Peter, Conor & Alex reached the summit along with the sherpas. Gabriel, Jesper and Erik reached the 2nd Step before deciding to turn around. A valiant effort all the same and are now en route to the North Col.
26th May 02:00 (6:45am Nepali time) Chris called in from the summit of Everest.
Chris, Geordie & Jaysen have reached the top of the world. Geordie has set a new British record by becoming the youngest British male to climb the true Seven Summits including Carstensz Pyramid, so extra well done to Geordie. Andrew and Ben are not far behind but are still to top out from the North Face on to the final summit approach. Chris reported that the weather is good and the guys are taking their summit photos and taking in the views. They will soon begin their descent back down the Northeast Ridge.
22nd May Fantastic news 13 summit! We have heard from our ABC and BC staff that the full team except Lianne & Chris have summitted. All except two members (Andrew Williams & Paul Noble) and their Sherpas are back at high camp. Well done everyone and we wish you a safe journey down.
23rd May 4:34am. SUMMIT SUCCESS ongoing. The following news was received at 4.30am GMT. Mark Procter & Peter Brittleton summited around 2.00am GMT and are reported to be at the balcony on their way to high camp. Matt Williams summited along with Nuru and Dowaat 4.00am GMT.
