3rd August: Ade has called to say that the team have come back down from Camp 3. He has assessed the state of the mountain and made the difficult decision, on the grounds of safety, that the expedition will not continue to a summit bid. The mountain is very dry and there are numerous wide crevasses bridged only by risky planks of wood, and Ade feels the risk is too great. The team will be discussing alternative plans this evening and will more than likely look to doing some daywalks out from Base Camp.
15th August: Whilst preparing for their summit push on Khan Tengri, the team received a weather forecast via Satellite phone that excessive snow was expected for the summit day, up to 30cm. With the difficulties and risks that this would bring, a group decision was made to descend from the mountain. Everyone arrived back in Bishkek yesterday, and some of the group have decided to go the Issy-Kul Lake to relax. Well done to everyone on a good effort on Khan Tengri, and for your achievements on other peaks earlier in the expedition. We wish you all a safe journey home.
8th Aug, Summit success! Stu has called to report success on Summit day. The team set off early but faced very cold and very windy conditions with big down jackets on all the way. Alex and Havel made it to the summit with the remainder turning back after reaching 6400m just below camp 4.
24th Aug, Summit success – Chris has called in today to update us on the teams progress. The weather was perfect for them. Chris and Peter finally reached the summit at 2:15pm. They then descended and cleared down to Camp 2 reaching the camp at 7:15pm. A fantastic effort by all. The team are now down at base camp and will arrive back in Bishkek on the 26th.

16th Aug – Paddy called in today from Karakol. The team are fine, although had a problem with the sat phone. They are now recovering from their adventure on Khan Tengri. Despite almost a metre of snow at Camp 2, Paddy, Laurent and Henrik reached the summit of Khan Tengri on the 14th August – a 1200m summit day. David reached the summit of Chapayev and stopped at Camp 3. Radim decided to descend from Camp 2 after 3 days of heavy snow. Well done to all and we wish them a safe journey back home.
8th Aug – The team will be back in Osh today they mad an attempt on the summit mid-week last week. The team made to to 6900m before deciding to call it a day. The unusually hot weather they are experiencing at the moment made the summit day much harder than normal. Good effort all round. The team will fly back to Bishkek tomorrow.
