Let us take you on a spectacular journey over the high fells of the Lake District.
Accompanied by our expert local guides, we will take in some of the area’s most scenic peaks and valleys, stopping at different carefully selected hotels each night. With your baggage transported to the next accommodation each day, you can focus on walking and savouring the views at every turn. This unique trip is a wonderful way to see and enjoy the beauty of the Lake District.
Our journey starts on the shores of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake at 10.5 miles long. We will overnight in specially chosen hotels along our route, from the beautiful Langdale valley (one of the Lake District’s most stunning valleys) to the dramatic Borrowdale valley; from the remote Wasdale valley in the west, with England’s deepest lake Wastwater, to the picturesque Buttermere lake and Derwentwater, and finishing in the market town of Keswick in the North Lakes.
The journey can be tailored to suit a relaxed schedule or more demanding itinerary. Choose the level for you:
Relaxed: 4-5 hours walking per day
This holiday is for relatively fit walkers who want to enjoy good days out in the Lake District mountains and valleys. The routes chosen will be on good mountain paths but may still include some sections of rough terrain that could be relatively steep at times. Most days would include around 500-700m of ascent.
Total over five days approx. 30-40 miles with 2500-3500m of ascent.
Adventurous: 6-8 hours walking per day
This holiday is for fit walkers. We walk at a steady pace and you can expect to be out for 6-8 hours a day. The routes will not always stick to good paths and the terrain may be rough and boggy, including boulder fields, scree and heather. Most days will involve a mountain ascent of over 3000ft/900m.
In five days you will have climbed the equivalent of Mont Blanc 4808m or Kilimanjaro 5895m, and walked 50-60 miles with 4000-6000m of ascent. Ideal for those aiming to climb a 5-6000m peak.
Mega (very challenging): 8-10 hours walking per day
This holiday is for very fit and experienced mountain walkers who are perhaps training for a high-end expedition at 7-8000m or just want mega days out. The days will be long, with substantial height gain and loss of between 1500m-2000m per day.
In five days you will have climbed the equivalent of Mt. Everest 29,000ft/8848m and walked a total of 60-80 miles with 8000-9000m of ascent. Ideal for those aiming to climb a 7-8000m+ peak.
