Lake District Mountain Scrambling Course

Lake District Mountain Scrambling Course

From £280
Grade: Introductory
2 hill days Guide Ratio: 1:3

Mountain Scrambling is an adventurous and challenging way of reaching your favourite summits in the Lake District.

Following rocky ridges, impressive buttresses and exciting spurs, scrambling is the fluid area between conventional walking and more formal rock climbing. The routes on our Mountain Scrambling Course provide a fantastic opportunity to survey fine views of the surrounding Lake District fells and pick out the distant walkers on potentially busier paths. Good scrambling terrain tends to be broken rocky ground requiring careful footwork, simple rock climbing skills and a good head for heights.

Our Mountain Scrambling Course offers the summer hill walker the chance to climb some of the classic scrambling routes and ridges in the Lake District. We will instruct you during the course in the techniques to enable you to move quickly, confidently and safely over steep and rocky ground, plus the basic rope work and route choice skills to become self-sufficient. The severity of the scrambles undertaken will be tailored to your present ability, from the classic Jack's Rake on Pavey Ark to Pinnacle Ridge on St Sunday Crag.

You should have experience of 3 season hill walking and be happy on the classic walkers ridges such as Stridding Edge or Sharp Edge indicating you have a good head for heights and steeper terrain and a reasonable level of fitness.

Please DO NOT book accommodation or make non-changeable travel arrangements until the course is confirmed to run.

I have got everything I expected from the course. Well - more than I expected. The pace of the course has been adjusted to my needs and experience..I have really enjoyed it the way it was...Stu has been highly professional, very patient and friendly. His instructions were clear and practical. I felt safe during the ascents with adequate safety features applied at every stage. The course achieved all the objectives. I highly recommend him...I get an impression that Adventure Peaks is a well organised and run company.

Excellent guide in Ian Oldham...he's an excellent mountain guide, very knowledgeable, competent and personable. It was a pleasure to be in his company and to benefit from his experience. A great day on Pinnacle Ridge, stunning scenery and excellent instruction...all round excellent course. Great information and detail provided.

Really good teaching and build up of skills and we even did an easy 'Rock Climb'!
Very patient instructor who did not shout or seem at all stressed - he seemed V. in control.

Great instructor - Mark was a credit to which pics we had a great weekend. Big thank you to mark for making the weekend-fun, enjoyable and we both learned new skills-exactly what we wanted. Thanks
