Leader: Rob Wills

7th February: Rob and the team made a successful ascent of Toubkal today, and will soon be heading back to Marrakech.

5th February: Rob, now back up in the mountains with our second group, called to say they had just come down from the summit of Ouankerim (4089), the second highest peak in this region. From the summit the views north to the Marrakech plains and south-east to the Sahara were ‘out of this world’. Rob reports loads of attractive looking icefalls around the refuge where they hope to practice ice-climbing as a break from the big mountains. African winter sunshine – hard to beat!

1st February: The whole team made it to summit of north Africa’s highest mountain today, reaching the top at 1030 after an early start. Toubkal (4165m) involves an ascent of 1000m from the refuge at the base, mostly over easy ground but with a couple of steeper sections. Well done to everyone.

30th January 1200hrs: Rob has just sent a text from the summit of Mt. Akioud (4030m) where he is with all three clients. Akioud is one of the eight peaks over 4000m in this region and is seldom visited. Well done!

28th January: Rob and the team have arrived safely at the Toubkal refuges which will be their base for the next few days. Rob says there is not as much snow as last year but enough to entertain them along with their Moroccan guide Mohammed for their stay.

27th January: Rob Wills sent a message to say that everyone has arrived safely despite the snow in the UK. After a morning in Marrakech’s markets they will be heading up to the village of Aremd in the High Atlas mountains this evening.

26th January: Our Toubkal Mountaineering team are heading out today, News reports will be updated here weather permitting. Have a great trip!
