Aconcagua 16th November 2023

26th November 2023 - Our Trip so far

The team spent a night in Mendoza before travelling on to Puente de Inca at 2000m. Here the team prepare for the trek in. The following morning the kitbags get loaded onto the mules and the trek begins from the Park gate at Punta de Vacas. The walk to up to Pampa de Lenas at 2864m meanders alongside the river and the team have dinner in the dome tent. The trek continues along the river to Casa de Piedra (3245m) for another nice dinner. It's an early start from Casa de Piedra to allow the mules to get our kit up to base camp before they head back down the Valley.

The walk up to basecamp at Plaza Argentina (4198m) is steeper than the last couple of days but the views are stunning! Once at base camp we have a rest day to help our acclimatisation, it also gives us time to go through our kit. We can see the route up to camp 1 It's been a snowy start to the season and the route to camp 1 is looking good.

Our first foray up the mountain takes us to camp 1 (4950m) and we refresh our crampon skills on the way. We cache our supplies that we have caried up at camp 1 and then head back down for more tastey food at base camp.

28th November 2023 - Cerro Colorado

With high winds forecast for the next couple of days the team have decided to stay at base camp and do some more acclimatisation hikes from there. Yesterday they climbed Cerro Colorado (4566m) which is a peak near to base camp and today they will go to camp 1.

30th November 2023 - Moving up!

The team have spent the last couple of days waiting out the weather at base camp whilst acclimatising higher on the mountain. The team are now looking to summit on the 5th of December and they will now begin moving up he mountain.

All set and ready to go!
