Chris Mothersdale has been climbing in the UK, Europe and across the world over a number of decades.  He started rock climbing in Yorkshire on Gritstone before taking on larger objectives both in the UK and abroad.  Rock climbing progressed to Ice Climbing in Scotland before climbing in the Greater Ranges in Europe, Africa, South and North America and Asia. Mountaineering has enabled him to climb on every continent and to explore many of the  the wonders of the world.

 

11th July 2023 - last day

A fantastic last day

10th July 2023

After breakfast the team took the chairlift to the famous Bezbog mountain hut at 2200 m. Next is ascent to mount Polejan (2851m) – one of the highest peaks of Pirin and Bulgaria.

9th July 2023 - Skakavitsa valley

Today the team set off for the Skakavitsa valley – home to giant, centuries old pine trees, untouched nature and the smallest, yet very important natural protected area. They past the oldest mountain hut in Bulgaria, all the way to the bottom of the valley, to the Skakavitsa waterfall which is 73 meters in height.

They then visited Visit to the monastery – listed in the UNESCO list of the cultural heritage of humanity.

8th July 2023 - Day 2

Everyone has had a fantastic time on their first trekking day. After a short transfer the team arrived at the bottom station of the chairlift. This then took them higher into the mountains to begin their trekking . This is one of the most stunning areas in the Bulgarian mountains – the Seven Rila Lakes. They set off on a fantastic circular route ticking off each lake; Low lake, the Fish lake, the Clover, the Twin, the Kidney, the Eye and the Tear – the scenery is just amazing.

Day2

7th July 2023 - We are in Sofia!

The team set off this morning from London arriving in Sofia in high spirits and with all their bags. At the airport they met their guide and then spent some time touring Sofia the capital city of Bulgaria , before transferring to their hotel. Everyone is settling into their rooms now and soon to have their first briefing to prepare them for tomorrows walk and then dinner.
